One other test I had performed using Fuhr 355 was the color test. This is to see just how much of a "solvent look" you actually get when using this product. I used two scrape mahogany panels that I had laying in the shop. The one on the left had a tung oil and wax finish and the smaller on the right had 355 applied. The results are par with just about every other wb product I've used. You be the judge.
One option to help improve the "tone" of natural woods under any waterborne finish is to apply an undercoat of shellac. The split panels to the left show plain waterborne (far left) and waterborne over shellac (right).
